Interesting take. I agree that they did a lot of bullshit in the early years. But with the release of chrysalis they got rid of all the old ballast and tech that didn't make any sense. For me IOTA became a real project with chrysalis. Since then the development pace picked up significantly. And many things like a decentralized version of IOTA or smart contracts can already be tested on the testnet. And if their tech can do all these things, why wouldn't they promote that fact? Things are finally looking promising, so I'm quite optimistic for the future. But with IOTAs history, I can understand that many are still skeptical and it will probably remain that way until everything runs on the mainnet.
